The Luminous Manifestation of the Soul

November 4, 2009 by Jessica Rachael

“The dancer’s body is simply the luminous manifestation of the soul.”

-Isadora Duncan

Today I had two dance rehearsals at school – one for a modern piece with African dance influences and six foot long poles, and the other for a waltz that I’ve choreographed to a piano piece that my sister composed.  Even though my muscles are cold now, I’m still in the mood to dance.  These photographs will do almost as well, though.

Between the Shadow and the Soul

“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,

in secret, between the shadow and the soul.”

-Pablo Neruda

This Whisper Which is Heard by Him Alone

October 24, 2009 by Jessica Rachael

“None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

What a lovely quote.  It reminds me of how important inspiration is, and also how very personal  – exactly the right thing has to come at exactly the right time.  And to exactly the right person, of course.  Today’s a rainy day – with the grey sky, black branches, yellow leaves, and all.  So it’s been the perfect opportunity to search for inspiration.  Here’s what I’ve come up with:
